The injection molding process is the main process of MIM technology, which can be divided into the following main steps [1]: ① Feed process Before the start of injection molding, the screw speed and pressure inside the barrel have been determined, the mold is tightly closed, and the top rod contracts. After the injection starts, the nozzle is tightly against the flow channel, and the screw is pushed forward. At this time, the locking ring and retaining ring at the front end of the screw are tightly closed to ensure that the feed is squeezed out of the barrel and filled in the mold cavity after being compressed. When there is enough feed at the front end of the barrel to fill the mold cavity, the screw stops rotating. ② Melting glue and injection When the feed is heated to a certain temperature inside the barrel, it will melt and then be filled into the mold. ③ Maintaining pressure The process of applying pressure to the feed after the screw reaches the top nozzle is called the holding process, which is the last stage of the feed being controlled by the machine in the mold. When the pressure inside the mold cavity increases, the flow rate of the feed decreases. When the feed cools down, the filling process ends. ④ Demolding The final step of injection molding is to remove the formed blank from the mold, and this process is called demolding.
